WESTERN ILLINOIS PARTS COMPANY WITH MARK HENDRICKSON
Two years ago, Mark Hendrickson was the runner up for the Eddie Robinson Award as the National FCS Football Coach of the Year.
Today...he is out of a job.
Hendrickson spent 14 years on staff in Macomb...the last three as the Leathernecks Head Coach, as well as two interim stints with the program when Don Patterson fell ill. The last two years have been Hendrickson's undoing as the Leathernecks have finished with just five total wins in 22 games and have won just two Missouri Valley Conference Games in two years. He exits the program with an 18 and 32 mark overall.
The WIU Athletic Department announced Hendrickson's departure with a brief press release this afternoon, confirming internet reports that began swirling this morning.
Not much meat to the press release about the future, other than Western Illinois confirming that the search for a replacement is immediately underway.
