UPDATE: Leading the Charge: Lyle Klein promoted to head Illini West Football

LEADING THE CHARGE: LYLE KLEIN PROMOTED TO HEAD ILLINI WEST FOOTBALL

The Tri State's most storied high school football program is under new leadership...of sorts.

But ask anyone with working knowledge of Illini West Football and they will tell you pause that Lyle Klein has always been an integral cog in the cog of Charger/Blueboy Football success.

As expected, the IW Defensive Coordinator Lyle Klein was approved tonight by the Illini West School Board to succede Tim Lafferty.

This will be Klein's first Varsity Head Coaching job but his credentials as an assistant are among the best in the state. He served as a Defensive Line coach under both Bill Lapp and Eric Bryan during the dynasty days of Carthage and then Illini West Football, earning four state championship rings along the way. After being promoted to Defensive Coordinator, Klein engineered the 5-2 scheme that netted the fifth and sixth title runs of the Jim Unruh era.
