UNITY TAKES A MIGHTY SWING AT GREATNESS (EXTENDED KHQA STATE SEMIFINALS WRAPUP)
The end of High School Basketball is upon us. All that is left at stake is to author the final sentences of the season.
Three teams with games left to play. Only one of them still alive in the hunt for a State Title.
That would be the Unity Mustangs....who traveled to Peoria as heavy underdogs to face Mooseheart in the Semifinals.
You know Mooseheart...a team with the kind of front line size at 7'1" 6'9" 6'7" that makes NBA General Managers salivate.
And a pedigree that rings closer to that being the Sudanese National Team than a homegrown Illinois Prep squad.
Add in a dash of considerable controversy as to those same imported kids being able to play and compete against public school kids for a title and the Mustangs were placed inconveniently at the epicenter of a swirling storm and being cast as some as martyrs to an IHSA PR Disaster.
More importantly, they were also given a nearly impossible on-court assignment to boot.
