THE PAISLEY LEGACY: HOW ONE TALENTED RUNNER ELEVATED THE PROFILE OF THE ENTIRE MACOMB CROSS COUNTRY PROGRAM
This time around she was running with a considerable target on her back; a sensation Karyn Paisley is only now starting to get used to.
But the adrenaline pump of racing against the unknown, and perhaps knowing she was the hunted, allowed the Macomb Senior to kick it into another gear at the Running Raider on Tuesday...and add yet another accolade to a growing resume....
Karyn Paisley: "I think it's good to run against people you don't know because then it gives you a chance to push yourself, see what you are capable of being able to do. And everyone else too. And everybody else did a great job today."
Karyn Paisley's Tuesday win was another step in forwarding her lofty goals. And with each "last" race she runs in this senior season, the focus sharpens to Peoria.
Karyn Paisley: "My goal this year is just to try to run the best race that I can. I mean, it's my last one so I am going to go out there and give it all I that I've got. My goal is to try and get All State this year and I think that would be awesome. And my other goal this year is to get my team to make it because we would be the first team ever in Macomb history to make it and I just think that would be awesome to be able to do."
And suffice it to say Karyn's personal pace has blazed quite a legacy for future Bombers to follow.
Karyn Paisley: "I believe that after I graduate this year, there are some really great younger girls that can help carry the legacy and I just feel like that we can build on our Macomb program. And it's just a really great feeling knowing that all my hard work paid off."
