"Being a role model is very important to me, because I think its something that athletes don't take seriously enough,"
Liberty's Tyler Ormond recognizes the fact that wearing red and white requires the work of two different jobs: student-athlete and role model. Because he knows from personal experience, there's always an opportunity to influence somebody.
"I remember when I was little and Justin Brock and those guys went to state, just seeing them in the hallway was awesome. Justin Brock would give us high-fives and it just made you feel good, and you wanted to be like them, so I think its very important,"
Tyler embodies everything you'd hope a good role model would be. That includes the rise to the top of his senior class, and his team-first mentality.
"I've been pretty blessed by the fact that I've had a lot of guys around me with a lot of talent. With baseball, Liberty wasn't known for baseball except being bad at it, but I've got a lot of good guys in my class that have done a lot with baseball. And with basketball, being a part of a great team, having great coaches - I'm pretty blessed by all of that,"
There's just something special about being a Liberty Eagle, that's why Tyler Ormond works tirelessly at being one of the best examples.
"It means everything. I love this school and I'm going to really miss it when I have to go. I'm not going very far to QU, but I'm going to miss this place. All the success we've had winning, its been an awesome experience, all of it,"
