Remembering Phillip Perry

Phillip Perry will long be remembered as a wrestling great in America's Hometown.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating an accident that killed 19-year old Hannibal native Phillip Perry.

Perry had just finished his freshman year as a wrestler at the University of Missouri, but he earned his stripes on the mat with the Pirates.

While wrestling for Hannibal, he recorded three top-three finishes in the state wrestling tournament, including a second place showing his senior year.

He also earned All-American honors, while being named an All-Stater three years running.

As the Hannibal wrestling program gained momentum in the late 2000s, Perry was a driving force behind the success seen by many, and has helped the team finish sixth or higher in the state all four years of his career.
