ONE DOOR CLOSES; HIRE OF WAYNE McCLAIN CLOSES DOOR ON POSSIBLE SEAN TAYLOR MOVE TO CHAMPAIGN CENTRAL
The spectre of Sean Taylor leaving Quincy High for the vacant Champaign Central Basketball Coaching job has been put to rest.
WCIA TV in Champaign reports that Central has hired legendary former Peoria Manual Boss and three time state champion Wayne McClain to helm that position.
McClain leaves an assistant coaching position at Kansas State to return to the high school ranks.
Sean Taylor's confirmed to KHQA on Monday that he had conversations with the Central brass about the opening and was widely believed to be one of four finalists for that job, but gave no indication that his talks with the school ever went beyond exploratory.
