Molinari leaves WIU for Assistant Position at Nebraska

MOLINARI JILTS WIU FOR ASSISTANT POSITION AT NEBRASKA

What has been rumored to pass in Macomb since Saturday has come to fruition....

Jim Molinari is no longer the Mens Basketball Coach at Western Illinois.

The University issued a press release tonight acknowledging only that Coach Mo had stepped down, without any mention of his future destination and that assistant coach Wade Hokenson would serve going forward as the team's acting head coach.

The Rivals network website Huskers OnLine reported Saturday that Molinari was bound for the University of Nebraska to become Tim Miles assistant coach.

The Western Courier confirmed Molinari's departure to Lincoln tonight. Molinari told Managing Editor Garrick Hodge "I love Western Illinois and that has made this the hardest basketball decision of my life."

In six years in Macomb, Coach Mo's overall record finishes at 79-104. He led Western to its first-ever Division I postseason appearance, taking the 2012 and 2013 teams to the College Basketball Invitational.
