PALMYRA PANTHERS SOFTBALL
If there was ever a coach that made a seamless transition to a new team, its Palmyra's Brian Wosman. His last season with the Panthers was in 2007, after he secured two consecutive state softball titles. Now replacing the coach who had previously replaced him (Joe Brandenburg), Wosman is excited for another opportunity in his favorite arena.
The first thing that sticks out about this team is the departure of pitcher Kindra Henze. Stepping up into the starting role will be Madison Ragar, a junior who has shown plenty of promise over the summer. She can breathe easy knowing she has an experienced catcher (and 2011 all-state selection) in Lexi Van Nostrand on the other side of the plate.
Offensively, this team is as confident as they come. A blend of power and speed will give opponents plenty to think about when the Panthers get on base. In Part 2 of the Brian Wosman era, the expectations are obvious: make it back to the state tournament. Plenty of seniors return with experience on the state's biggest stage, meaning the Panthers are as strong between the ears as they are between the lines.
