Western Illinois University had to find a way to deal with a once again low budget.
Budget Director Matt Bierman said WIU faces a number of problems with this upcoming budget.
The state of Illinois owes WIU nearly $20 million.
Bierman said this is a recurring problem that is helped through reserve funds.
There will also be a tuition increase of almost five percent for new students.
He says the university will make budget cuts up to $4.8 million.
Bierman said enrollment is an issue with the tuition increase. He said one of the larger factors to many students dropping out is from expenses.
WIU has a cost guarantee, that locks in your tuition cost as well as room and board for four years.
He said that is a good way to help enrollment.
