Hannibal schools names new superintendent

Hannibal Public Schools has named assistant superintendent Susan Johnson to replace retiring superintendent Jill Janes.

The district announced the decision on Wednesday.

Johnson has 21 years of education experience. She worked at Eugene Field Elementary School as both a teacher and the principal. She has been assistant superintendent since 2004.

She will assume her new role when Janes retires at the end of the 2013-2014 school year.

Johnson received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Hannibal-LaGrange College. She earned a masters degree in education administration from Central Missouri State University. She's expected to graduate with a doctorate in education from the University of Missouri in 2015.
