Hannibal firefighters responded to more than one fire at the same location Sunday.
Chief Madore of the Hannibal Fire Department says both fires were intentionally set.
Around 12 p.m., a bystander reported a mattress on fire inside of a garage at 2001 Grace Street. The Hannibal Fire Department responded to the call and quickly put out the mattress fire.
A few hours later, the fire department responded to a structure fire at the same location. This time the entire garage was engulfed in flames.
Firefighters noticed the power lines above the garage were being scorched by the fire. This forced firefighters to park their trucks a few feet from the garage.
Within 10 to 15 minutes, firefighters put out the bulk of the fire.
The Hannibal Police Department blocked off the surrounding area until the flames were fully out.
â??Thereâ??s no utilities going to the garage. It is a little suspicious in nature at this time. That's why we called in investigators," Sean Hampton, assistant fire chief for the Hannibal Fire Department, said.
The Hannibal Police Department and the Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office is assisting the Hannibal Fire Department in the investigation.
According to Lt. Davis with HPD, there is a person of interest in the case, but because it is under active investigation, no further details can be released.
It is not known at this time the value of the property lost to the fire.
No injuries were reported in connection to either fire.
KHQA will bring you more details as they are released.
