Second fire in two days destroys vacant Payson home

For the second time in two days a vacant home near Payson was on fire.

For the second time in two days a vacant home near Payson was on fire. But this time the loss is total.

Around 9 p.m. on Thursday night, the Payson/Fall Creek Fire Department responded to a fire at 127 East 1100 Street.

This is the same home that caught fire around 10 a.m. the previous day.

Although the fire was completely put out on Wednesday, Fire Chief Gary Frye says it looks like something must have rekindled the flames.

At this time it is too early to tell exactly what that cause might have been.

Frye says that it is standard procedure to call in the State Fire Marshall to investigate a fire at a vacant house, so he is leaving the determining of the cause to that agency.

Crews from the Hull/Kinderhook Fire Department also helped by bring water to the scene.
