Southwest Airlines boasting a great view of Eclipse 2017
On August 21, a solar eclipse will occur from coast to coast in the United States for the first time in 99 years. While many are planning on finding a spot somewhere on land where there will be totality, the best view may be from the air.
While many flights will fly through the moon's shadow, Southwest Airlines is advertising special flights that will fly along the path of totality, and a few of those fly into St. Louis, just a few hours south of the Tri-States.
According to Southwest Airlines, the best flights will be Flight 1375 that departs Seattle to St. Louis at 8:50 a.m. PDT. Another recommended trip is Flight 1368 from Portland, Oregon to St. Louis which departs at 9:05 a.m. PDT. The final flight to St. Louis recommended by Southwest departs Denver at 10:20 a.m. MDT.
As of Thursday July 27, all three flight still have tickets available, albeit you'll have to pay quite a bit of money. The cheapest flight starts at just under $300.
Southwest Airlines says the passengers will be treated to free swag including special viewing glasses and cosmic cocktails.
