'Y' would you run in 25 degree temperatures?

It was about 25 degree Thursday morning when 2300 runners took off down Maine Street in Quincy for the 34th annual Quincy Family YMCA Turkey Run.

People could either run, walk, or swim a 5 or 10K.

This race consistently raises more than $30,000 for the Y's annual campaign.

This year, r

unners this year had to deal with the cold weather.

"I made a commitment last year to run 12 races in 12 months. Most of them have been in nice, warm places like Charleston, South Carolina and Texas. It's going to slow me down a little," says Paige Mitts.

"Hopefully, it makes me run faster so I can get out of the cold quicker," says Bob Shafer.

"It makes me really cold, so I run really, really fast!" says Mindy Shafer.

Many families, including the Shafer family from Quincy, make this a family tradition.

Runners say it's a great way to burn some extra calories before the big Thanksgiving day feast.
