Wrongful death suit in the hands of pre-law students

They dressed the part and spoke the lingo, but these pre-law students have years of ahead of them before they can make an actual case.

Students from around the region got a taste of what the life of a lawyer would feel like Saturday. Quincy University hosted its 8th annual Riverside Classic Mock Trials Tournament. 14 schools participated.

Doctor Brian Borlas teaches political science at Quincy University and is a director of the tournament. Borlas has been a part of the tournament from the beginning. He said the professionalism shown by some of these students surprised the actual attorneys and judges.

The tournament was held at the Adams County Courthouse. The trials were judged by real judges. This year's case involved a wrongful death civil case. QU tied for 5th in the competition. North Central College from Chicago took first place with Truman State taking second.
