An Adams County judge will allow a Quincy woman charged with locking her child in the basement to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
Tricia Franklin, 26, was arrested April 20 after Quincy Police found her child locked in the basement of her 2023 Broadway home.
Assistant Stateâ??s Attorney Gary Farha said a judge granted the defense attorneyâ??s request that Franklin undergo the evaluation to determine if sheâ??s mentally fit to stand trial.
Sheâ??s scheduled to return to court June 4.
QPD officers were sent to Franklinâ??s home after a neighbor reported hearing what sounded like a child yelling for help.
Officers entered the home and found a 5-year-old boy that was home alone and locked in the basement.
Franklin is charged with unlawful restraint and child endangerment. The child was turned over to the Department of Children and Family Services.
