Sun, 14 Apr 2013 13:30:00 GMT — A former Joplin resident has pleaded guilty to disaster fraud for benefits she received after a deadly tornado hit the city in 2011. The U.S. Attorney's office says 28-year-old Amy Cherie Feagan pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to wrongly accepting nearly $11,800 in aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Feagan admitted telling federal officials she lived in an apartment hit by the tornado in May 2011 and accepting payment for possessions she allegedly lost. In fact, prosecutors said, Feagan had previously moved out of the apartment and was living in transitional housing in Springfield following her release from incarceration on unrelated charges. A sentencing hearing has not yet been scheduled.
