There could be a change in who decides how to spend tourism money in Hannibal.
Some members of the Hannibal city council want the city to have more control in the Hannibal Convention and Visitors Bureau's financial decisions.
The HCVB's President says it's an issue of needing better communication.
"There are bigger economic development issues that involve tourism that really only city entities can deal with. Our mission is very tightly focused and our job is to promote the city, sell the city of Hannibal and that's what we want to keep doing," said HCVB President Steve Ayers."
We also spoke with Hannibal city council member Michael Dobson.
He believes this can be accomplished with a simple ordinance...but there need to be negotiations.
"We more or less agreed that we needed to sit down to a meeting with all those involved and talk about the direction that we want to go," said Hannibal City Council member Michael Dobson."
City Manager Jeff LaGarce likely would control tourism dollars if this change happens.
