Ahhhh, spring is in the air â?¦ in February!
Itâ??s as if our senses are fooling us. Yes, that is the smell of burgers on the grill. Uh-huh, those are crocuses. Yep, youâ??re feeling the sun push the thermometer up to a pleasant 65 degrees.
This winter has been unusually kind to those of us who typically suffer from cabin fever. The sun is even putting a smile on the faces of people who have a more serious problem: seasonal affective disorder. SAD makes you feel, well, sad. Itâ??s depression complicated by the lack of sunshine.
This year, itâ??s the snow-bird types who are disappointed. Whereâ??s the white stuff? While my kids have enjoyed being outside, theyâ??re also complaining about the lack of snow. For my part, I have a hard time mustering up sympathy for them.
Today I refilled the propane tank for the grill. The clerk said sheâ??s seen an uptick in business lately. Like the rest of us, she reminisced about this
time exactly one year ago
. She was cozy warm at home, where she was waiting for crews to clear two feet of snow off the roads.
Ahhhh, spring in February. The chicken is marinating. Iâ??m off to fire up the grill!
Take care ~Sarah D.
