WCAZ to Power Down on December 31st

WCAZ 990 AM will cease broadcast at 5pm on New Years Eve.

The station's operating license was cancelled by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) on April 21, 2017.

The station was originally licensed in 1922, making one of the oldest commercially licensed radio stations in North America.

Current owner Rob Dunham says he cannot comment due to the current legal situation.

WCAZ is known for it's local sports broadcasts in the Carthage, Illinois area, as well as its commitment to the farming community.
