A deactivation agreement went into effect for Warsaw and Nauvoo-Colusa at the beginning of the 2008 school year.
Warsaw Junior High deactivated and sent 7th and 8th graders to Nauvoo. Nauvoo-Colusa High School deactivated and sent students in grades 9 - 12 to Warsaw.
The two districts school boards will vote to continue the deactivation agreement for two more years at next month's regularly scheduled board meetings.
We spoke with Warsaw School District Superintendent Kim Schilson to see how the deactivation has been over the past two years.
"The deactivation has gone better than anyone has expected it to for the past 2 years. We expected some bumps in the road and we really haven't had any bumps. You walk down the halls and I can't tell who the Nauvoo kids are and who the Warsaw kids are any more. So that's a good feeling," said Schilson.
A majority vote is needed in each school board to continue the deactivation agreement.
The Nauvoo-Colusa School Board will vote December 7th. The Warsaw School Board will vote December 16th.
