Visit the "Tie One On Drive Thru" in Quincy Saturday

Tie a red ribbon on

Project Red Ribbon kicked off Monday morning and the ribbons raise awareness to not drink and drive, especially during the holiday season.

On Saturday, Quincy Notre Dame students will hand them out in the drive thru line at Hardees at 30th and Broadway.

Project Red Ribbon is sponsored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and in the 26 years of doing it here locally, DUI arrests have gone down. However, nationally, it's still a pretty big problem.

"We spend a lot of money trying to cure terrible diseases which kill people. This is a very simple cure. It doesn't cost anything. All you have to do is choose not to drink and drive," J.T. Dozier with the local MADD chapter said.

If you miss the drive thru event, you can get a ribbon for yourself at Quincy City Hall, the police station and many area banks.
