People around the Tri-States will honor America's veterans and members of the Armed Forces with Veterans Day events from Friday right up through Veterans Day on Monday.
On Monday, veterans are invited to a dinner at the McDonough County American Legion post in Macomb. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. The dinner is for dues-paying members.
Also on Monday, a Veterans Day service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Barry, Ill. starting at 10:30 a.m. The public is invited to come enjoy this service. There will be sign up sheets available for both veterans and non-veterans. There will be a pot luck supper at the Legion building at 6:30 p.m. All Legion and Auxiliary members are invited to this. Ham, coffee and tea will be furnished, please bring a covered dish and your table service. The Veterans Day ceremony will be repeated at Barry Community Care Center at 1:30 p.m. and then participants will go directly to Western School to "Post the Colors" for their Veterans Day ceremony.
On Tuesday, November 12, Holy Family School has planned a Veterans Day Mass. Mass will take place at 8:15 a.m. This mass will honor local veterans and all veterans who have served our country. All are welcome to attend.
