Veteran accused of selling prescription meds for profit

A Macomb man was arrested on drug charges following a police investigation.

Rickey C. Hood, 51, was arrested on a McDonough County felony warrant charging him with two counts delivery of a controlled substance.

According to McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker, the investigation concerned prescription medications being sold illegally in McDonough County.

The investigation revealed that Hood was receiving assistance through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for medication and then selling the controlled prescription of Clonazepam for profit, Sheriff VanBrooker said.

A drug unit made up of officers and deputies from the McDonough County Sheriff's Office, The Macomb Police Department, The Colchester Police Department, The Blandinsville Police Department, The Office of Public Safety at Western Illinois University and the Bushnell Police Department conducted the investigation.

Hood is currently lodged in the McDonough County Jail.
