VanBrooker to retire early, Chief Deputy Petitgout will be new McDonough Sheriff
MCDONOUGH COUNTY, IL —
McDonough County Sheriff Rick VanBrooker has now announced an earlier retirement than originally scheduled.
Sheriff VanBrooker confirmed with KHQA that he will officially retire from office at the end of April.
According to VanBrooker he was originally scheduled to retire in November but decided now was the best time to retire and for the department to move forward.
Chief Deputy Nick Petitgout was recommended by VanBrooker to complete his current term as Sheriff.
Petitgout won last month's Republican Primary for Sheriff.
There were no democrats that filed for the November election.
