Updated police cars coming to Hannibal

The Hannibal Police department received approval at Tuesday night city council meeting to update its patrol car fleet.Chief Lyndell Davis was given approval to accept the bid of $278,484 dollars from state contractor Don Brown Chevrolet. All the trade in vehicles have over 100 thousand miles on them and are becoming to expensive to maintain.Chief Davis expects the new patrol cars to arrive in about 70 days, but with the time it will take to get them street ready, it will probably be next year before they are put into service. The city council also gave approval to an emergency measure that will allow the city to buy asphalt from Magruder Paving for the Paris Gravel Road project.Originally the plan was to purchase the asphalt from another supplier but it was determined that the type of asphalt it is making would not be suitable for the patching project nor would it be ready in time to get the work done before November.
