UPDATE: Witnesses say driver accelerated before Quincy hit and run

New information has been released regarding the hit and run incident that occurred in Quincy last week.

According to a police report, Dallas M. Shelton of Milan, Illinois, was stopped, facing eastbound in the alley at Maine to Jersey, Gardner Expressway to 4th Street - in the alley behind Hilbing Autobody and the Adams County Welfare Department.

Nancy A. Dean, of Quincy, was standing outside of the driver's side window and Patrick Lambert, of Quincy, entered the alley.

According to witnesses on scene, Lambert accelerated, sideswiped Shelton's vehicle and struck Dean in the process.

Officials were first searching for the suspect involved and later identified the individual as Lambert.

Lambert was cited for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Traffic Crash, Improper Lane Usage and No Insurance.

Lambert was arrested and lodged in the Adams County Jail on Wednesday.
