The United Way of Adams County kicked off its 2014 fundraising campaign Thursday at in Upper Moorman Park.
The organization pledges to raise $1,250,000. So far, more than $200,000 has been raised.
It's really the generous community that responds to that effort to raise these funds and then I think the community also recognizes the United Way is a good steward of those funds and helps determine where the needs are and how they are most effectively spent, Chris Niemann, EVP/CFO of Niemann Foods, Inc. and also the United Way Campaign Chairman, said.
Also, the Born Learning Trail was showcased as well.
The Born Learning Trail in Moorman Park was installed by United Way volunteers on Monday, July 28 to promote early childhood education in Adams County, according to the organization.
The second trail will debut next month at Bailey Park, in Camp Point, Illinois.
We are the United Way of Adams County, not of just Quincy, Niemann said.
