Two teens killed in Monday night accident

UPDATED: June 7 at 9:50 a.m.

The Illinois State Police reports that 18-year-old Kathlina N. Reinig and 16-year-old Gavin C. Roskamp were killed in a one-car accident Monday night on County Rd. 1600 about 1/2 mile east of 1950th East.

Reinig was listed as the driver of the vehicle. Roskamp was listed as a passenger in the back seat. One other passenger was airlifted to Blessing Hospital.

In all, five teenagers were in the vehicle at the time and all were wearing seatbelts. During interviews with surviving victims, they indicated they were traveling to an area where local kids attempt to "hill-hop" with their vehicles. One of the injured passengers indicated they jumped their vehicle on a County Road hillcrest and lost control and rolled several times. No alcohol or drugs were suspected.

Lamporte-St. Clair Funeral Home in Hamilton is handling Roskamp's arrangements. The Vigen Funeral Home in Kahoka, Mo., is handling arrangements for Reinig.

An ISP accident reconstructionist was called to investigate.
