Twin Pike YMCA raising funds to build indoor pool
The Twin Pike YMCA in Louisiana, Missouri wants to build a new indoor aquatic center at their facility on Kelly Lane.
The total cost of the project is $3.8 million and so far the YMCA has been able to raise $2.1 million.
Earlier this week, the Twin Pike YMCA was notified that they were in line to receive a $500,000 challenge grant from the Mabee Charitable Foundation based in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
In order to get the grant, the YMCA has to raise $2.1 million dollars in the next 12 months.
"The urgency the Mabee Foundation grant creates for us, is why we're here. To create the excitement and get the community awareness out there and let people know it's time to step up and make sure this is able to happen," the executive director of the Twin Pike YMCA Marsha Garrison said. "To complete that $3.8 million dollar."
The YMCA started out in a small office building in downtown Lousiana in 1993.
And they moved to their current facility in 2001.
The new aquatic center will feature a 25 meter pool with six lanes and a zero depth entry option.
