KEOKUK, Iowa (AP) - A man accused of starting a series of a fires in Keokuk will go on trial on May 19.
Travis Thrush, of Keokuk, is charged with one count of first-degree arson and six counts of second-degree arson in the fires that date back to last year. He entered a written plea of not guilty last Friday in Lee County District Court. The first-degree arson charge stems from a fire in January that destroyed a pile of hay bales outside a business. About a dozen people were inside but no one was hurt.
The other charges stem from fires from May 2008 through January, and included two churches.
