Trial date set in 2012 NEMO high-speed chase, shooting

Ted Rupp

A trial date is set for a Hannibal man shot by deputies after a two-county high-speed chase.

Ted Rupp, 44, is charged with assault on a law enforcement officer and unlawful use of a weapon. His jury trial has been set for Jan 16 in Pike County. The trial was moved there after a judge granted a change of venue.

Rupp is charged with leading authorities in a March 11, 2012 high-speed chase from Perry to Hannibal. Investigators said Rupp fled after a Ralls County motel owner called investigators to report a suspicious person on the property.

Rupp crashed his car near Fiddlestick's restaurant west of Hannibal. He was shot after he pulled a gun on deputies, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Rupp was taken into custody almost a month later after treatment at a St. Louis hospital. He remains at the Marion County Jail in Palmyra.
