The man accused in the fire that burned the historic Newcomb Hotel pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him.
Mathew Clark, 24, of Quincy is charged with property damage over $100,000 and burglary in the Sept. 6 fire that destroyed the hotel at the intersection Fourth and Maine street.
Clark appeared at a hearing Wednesday afternoon at the Adams County Courthouse before Circuit Judge Scott Walden.
Attorney Brett Jansen asked the judge to lower the bond because his client suffers from ongoing mental health issues.
Walden denied the request.
The judge set a tentative trial date for December 9. A pre-trial hearing is scheduled for December 2.
Clark remains in the Adams County Jail on $200,000 bond.
