Tri-State businesses coming together for hurricane victims
Hurricane victims need your help. This weekend B&N Trucking and Quincy's County Market, 48th and Broadway location, will collect non-perishable items for those impacted by Irma and Harvey.
The items will be transported to Red Cross facilities in both Texas and Florida in one of B&N's semis.
Niki Woodyard, who is helping put this all together, says she just wanted to find a way to help.
"I made a comment to my husband wishing i was a nurse, or a contractor, wishing we could go down there and help them," Woodyard said. "So we just started kinda brainstorming and we thought we really don't have to have a special skill set to do that. We could do something like this with the resources we do have."
They are collecting bottled water, personal hygiene products (shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.), canned goods and other non-perishable items.
You can also donate money or County Market gift cards, and that will be used to purchase needed items.
Items can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the County Market parking lot.
