Timothy Brokes trial delayed

MONROE COUNTY, MO — A Hannibal man accused of killing one and wounding an officer during a January 2016 northeast Missouri crime spree has had his June trial cancelled.

According to court documents, a motion filed by the prosecution to cancel the three day trial next month was granted.

Brokes is set to appear back in court at 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon.

Brokes faces charges of 1st degree assault, armed criminal action, assault of law enforcement and 1st degree murder in Marion and Monroe counties.

Marion County Prosecuting Attorney David Clayton plans to seek the death penalty in the murder case. Brokes is in the Marion County Jail on just over $2 million bond.
