The wind goes whipping through the Tri-States

Branch blown into power lines Sunday night.

Hold onto your hats for awhile longer as high winds will remain in the Tri-States into Monday evening.

Sunday night we saw gusts up to 41 mph in the Quincy area and for Monday you just may see speeds of up to 30 mph before all is said and done. Fortunately a high in the lower 40s accompanies the windy conditions and by Wednesday we may see temps near 50 degrees.

Hannibal Fire Department issued a burn ban on Monday due to the high winds. The burn ban will continue until further notice.

Those high winds Sunday night caused some slight damage on South 30th in Quincy near the community of Country Club Heights when branches fell and were caught in power lines.

Approximately 3,400 households were left without power until after 10:30 p.m. as Ameren crews rushed to repair the damage.
