The Salvation Army needs your help to beat the heat

The Salvation Army is encouraging people to donate fans to its Fan Program.

Not everyone has air conditioners to cool them off during these hot summer days, so the Quincy Salvation Army is helping them out.

The organization will begin distributing fans Monday as part of its Fan Program.

Anyone is able to receive a free fan as long as they bring a photo ID when they pick one up at the Salvation Army Family Services on 6th Street in Quincy.

The organization is also encouraging people to donate new fans to the program.

"Whenever we get the fans brought in, we give them out as soon as we can so there's a waiting list of people who are in need of fans," Lt. Linnea Forney said. "People are aware that we have this program so people know ahead of time to come and ask for fans so at this point we are in real need of boxed fans."

Fans will be given out Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until noon and from 1 p.m. till 3 p.m. You can also donate new fans during those times.
