The force was strong at 21st annual Mutt Strut

The force was strong as dozens of dogs strutted across Upper Mormon Park in Quincy on Saturday.

It was all for the 21st annual "Mutt Strut" put on by the Quincy Humane Society.

This year's theme was "Paw Wars", and many furry friends came dressed as their owners favorite Star Wars character.

The event allowed owners a chance to get some quality time and exercise with their pets as they took them on a one mile walk around the park.

New this year, the event hosted its first ever 5k run/walk, and a puppy dash for children.

Executive Director of the Quincy Humane Society, Sally Westerhoff, said they've come a long way since their first Mutt Strut.

"I think the first year we made a thousand dollars, which was 21 years ago and we thought we were rolling in the cash. Now this event comprises of 8 to 10 percent of our total budget of $538,000," Westerhoff said.

The Mutt Strut is the Quincy Humane Society's biggest fundraising event of the year.
