Suspicious Hannibal fire prompts arrest and release

Hannibal Police say a man taken into custody in connection with a suspicions fire has been let go.

Police didn't release the name of the 21-year-old man who was a resident at Shinn Residential Center in the 800 block of Paris Avenue.

The man, who is formerly of Joplin, was placed on a 24-hour hold and released pending an ongoing investigation by the state fire marshal.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday to the home. The fire was originally deemed incendiary in nature.

The investigation is ongoing.

No one was hurt in the fire.
