Suspect wanted in Macon metal theft

Macon County law enforcement authorities are continuing their search for a suspect in connection with an attempted theft at a Macon business.

Police say they interrupted a theft in progress at Rockhill Mechanical Corporation when they spotted a vehicle on the property at about 3:30 Tuesday morning.

Officers approached the scene and two male suspects fled on foot.

Our sister station KTVO in Kirksville reports that a perimeter was set up and back up units were called in to assist, including additional Macon police officers and the Macon Police canine unit, Macon County Sheriff TMs Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Department of Conservation.

One suspect was taken into custody at approximately 8:30 Tuesday morning. The person arrested is a 26-year-old white male from Kansas City, Missouri.

The search for the second suspect is continuing. He is described as 6 TM0 " 6 TM2 tall, 220-250 pounds, wearing a dark sweatshirt, shorts and tennis shoes. He was last seen wearing an article of clothing to cover his face.

A U-Haul truck was recovered from the crime scene.
