Sunset Home to receive $2 million from City of Quincy

Sunset Home in Quincy got the green light for some green from the Quincy City Council on Monday night.

Sunset Home in Quincy got the green light for some green from the Quincy City Council on Monday night.

The council approved a $2 million loan to Sunset Home for renovations. The amount will be re-financed into a loan that Sunset Home had already received.

"They can use our municipal bonding authority to get capital at a cheaper rate so that's what this involves," Mayor of Quincy Kyle Moore said. "We allow that for certain organizations around the community - they have to petition the finance committee and let them know what they're going to use the funds for."

The money will go towards improvements to dining and nursing facilities at Sunset Home, which is located at 418 Washington Street in Quincy.

The city's finance committee first had to approve the loan before a vote from council.

Sunset Home has served the Quincy community for over 100 years.
