State grant fuels Macomb library expansion

Macomb Public Library workers will begin moving books Tuesday in order to begin construction on its new 10,000 square foot expansion.

In July, Library officials learned the state planned to award the facility a $2 million state grant after the library raised $800,000 in matching funds.

The Campaign for the Future began in October of 2012.

The library now qualifies for a $2.4 million Capital Development Grant.

The money will be used to pay for a 10,000 square foot expansion. The library expects to add more computers and a large meeting room.

Construction is expected to begin this fall.
