Taxpayers may comment on spending priorities for public schools at a hearing planned this month in Champaign.
The Illinois State Board of Education will conduct the meeting Nov. 12 at the Champaign Public Library.
It's the second of five hearings by the board's finance and audit committee to help it develop a spending plan for the fiscal year that begins in July 2014.
The state board is also asking taxpayers for opinions about the current funding formula for public schools. A Senate Education Funding Advisory Committee is studying the current method of distributing funds and is looking for input.
Additional hearings will be Nov. 14 in Grayslake, Nov. 20 in Macomb and Nov. 22 in Chicago.
