Nixon will survey the storm damage Thursday morning and meet with local officials.
Meanwhile, a tornado is being blamed for severe damage in northern Arkansas Wednesday night. The national weather service says the twister touched down in Van Buren County.
Officials say it destroyed a church and ripped through several homes. Drivers were also hit by the strong winds -- some cars and trucks ended up overturned.
At least three injuries were reported in the county.
