Sprouts Inn owners looking for arsonist in weekend fire

You can see where the fire burned through the entrance of the building, facing N. 12th Street.

The owners of Sprouts Inn in Quincy are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arsonist behind an Easter morning fire.

Owner Jenny Weimelt was not in town at the time the fire broke out just before 6:30 a.m.

The Quincy Fire Department responded to a report of a small fire in the front of the building, off N. 12th St. The fire was extinguished quickly.

The fire started in a pile of lumber that was intentionally set at the front door. The damage was minimal but the fire was labeled incendiary. The Quincy Police Department is now investigating the fire.

This is the second fire to hit the Quincy restaurant. An early morning fire on June 14, 2012 gutted the restaurant. The Quincy Fire Department investigators and an investigator representing the owner's insurance company determined that repetitive use of an electrical outlet over an extended period of time caused a loose terminal connection which resulted in overheating.
