Springfield man dead after a Friday boating incident

One Springfield, Illinois man is dead after falling overboard at Mark Twain Lake Friday afternoon.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 35-year-old Nathan Hoffman fell out of the boat he was riding on around 1:45 p.m.

The boat was tied to a tree stump, when Hoffman fell into the water from the rear platform.

His body was found near the boat in the water.

Ralls County Coroner Denise Goodwin pronounced him dead at the scene.
