Soda tax plan in Illinois to fight obesity
Tue, 10 May 2011 17:25:08 GMT —
The Illinois legislature wants soda drinkers to pay for programs to fight obesity.
A new soda tax being proposed in the Senate could increase the cost of your favorite sweet beverage.
The House has already said yes to a statewide trans fat ban, but the measure is still waiting for Senate approval.
If the Senate votes for the House version of the statewide trans fat ban, if would go into effect January 2013.
Legislation banning trans fats in schools has also been introduced.
