Seven people jumped from their boat Friday evening right before it collided with a barge on the Mississippi River near Burlington.
The boaters including five adults and two children were all rescued by another nearby boat.
According to The Hawk Eye, the boat's motor went out Friday evening as it attempted to pass a barge south of the Sullivan Slough. The people on the boat jumped overboard when it appeared a collision was imminent.
Iowa Department of Natural Resources officials said the two crafts didn't actually collide but the barge pushed the boat out of the way.
A bystander at a nearby cabin took his own boat out to help rescue the boat passengers. No injuries were reported.
