Senator Jack Hatch to run for Iowa Governor

Sen. Hatch announced Monday that he will be running for governor

Sen. Jack Hatch from Des Moines announced on Monday that he will be running for Governor. Hatch, a democrat, has served as a senator for the past 11 years.

Ottumwa was his first stop Tuesday morning following his official gubernatorial announcement.

Approximately 25-years-ago the senator started a business with an office in Ottumwa that helped find people jobs.

According to Tess Hedrick with our sister station KTVO, Hatch said he wants to focus more on the people and the small businesses that make up Iowa.

â??Well Iâ??d change to the economic direction of the economic development committee from a top-down approach to a bottom-up approach. We'll be sending and developing local economic development councils so that people in the areas, whether it's a region or one county or city will be able to tell us what they want to drive and create economic growth,â?? Sen. Hatch said.

Hatch said he thinks Gov. Branstad has one goal and thatâ??s to be the longest-serving governor.
